Curious pup

This pup was just watching me from the other run looking as cute as can be.

Puppy racers

The pups followed Kathy to the other end of the run and then raced back when they saw me.

Puppies

The puppies and the dogs would come up to the fence and climb over each other to get a pet. They are so cute, we could have watched them for hours.

Beating the Heat

We went to the NGA office and then just past it is the Abilene Greyhound Park where they do training races. The kennel nearby had some dogs and puppies, so we visited with them. The temperature was in the high 90s so the dogs would soak their front feet in their water bucket to cool down.

Abby

Abby spent a lot of time just lying on the rug.

Kathy says goodbye to Chig.

Chig has a nice spot at the entrance. She sits on her raised platform and watches people come and go. She is seven years old (ear mark 48E). She also lost a toe on her right foot when she got it caught in the chain link fence at the run in back of the building.

Tommy Romano's plaque

They have a display of Night of Stars Champs and there was Tommy's name. They also have the racing videos playing on a continuous loop. We pick Tommy up in the morning, but we got to see his big race today at the Hall of Fame.

Lots of information

There is a lot of information about greyhounds and the racing industry at the Hall of Fame. This display shows how they tattoo the ears to identify each dog. There are many other displays with information about past winning dogs and people in the industry.

Hall of Fame mascots

This is Chig, one of the two Greyhounds that live in the Hall of Fame. Abby is the other.

Greyhound Hall of Fame

Kathy and I arrive at the Greyhound Hall of Fame in Abilene, KS.

Sierra and Chevy

Dorothy sent this today. Sierra and Chevy look like they are clowning around but they both just like to "cockroach". She caught them both at the same time. They look hilarious with their mouths open. Posted by Picasa

Morgan and Princess

Morgan and Princess give Kathy some attention. You can see how big Morgan is here. Posted by Picasa

Fred lends a hand

Dorothy is fostering a broken leg dog. Fred lifts her out so she can go outside in the turn out area. She broke her leg racing. Posted by Picasa

Stephanie likes crates

Dorothy fostered Stephanie before we adopted her, so whenever we go for a visit, Stephanie loves to climb into any crate that is open and will stay in there for the whole visit. She loves being in a crate. Posted by Picasa

Glow sees something

Something catches Glow's interest. I think greyhounds look great with their ears in this position. Posted by Picasa

Stephanie rests on baby

Stephanie rests her head on baby. You can see that baby is getting very worn out. The eyes are gone and it has been repaired several times to keep the stuffing inside. Posted by Picasa

Glow with wings?

This is one of those pictures that you have to keep the camera close by to get. I am making breakfast for myself and Bullet and Glow park in the hall waiting to go for a walk. It looks like Glow has sprouted wings with the way her hind legs are.  Posted by Picasa

Morgan Sleeping

Morgan got tired of all the visitors and took a short nap. Posted by Picasa

Sierra and Fred

Sierra was showing Fred where and how to scratch. He seems to be enjoying it. Posted by Picasa

Princess

Princess loves to stand under the plants and feel them rub on her back. Posted by Picasa

Dreamer

This is Dreamer. He was just relaxing and watching all of the activity. Posted by Picasa

Chevy

Here is a nice full shot of Chevy. He's a handsome boy and a real lover. Posted by Picasa

Chevy leaning

This is Chevy. He looked so funny leaning on Dorothy that I had to take the picture. Posted by Picasa

Morgan is getting bigger

We got to see little Morgan today also, but she is not so little anymore. She is getting close to full size now. Posted by Picasa

Glow and Zoe

Here is a shot from the other side to show their difference in coloring. Posted by Picasa

Zoe

Zoe and Glow relax. As I watched Zoe, I saw her act very much like Glow does. Posted by Picasa

Glow and Zoe close up

Glow and Zoe look very much alike. The coloring and the shape of their heads are very similar. Zoe is on the left. Posted by Picasa

Glow meets Zoe

Today Glow got to meet her sister, No Barking Zone (Zoe). We thought there would be some noticable recognition, but they treated each other like any other greyhound. We are adopting Glow's brother, Tommy Romano. We will see if she recognizes him. There is a picture on greyhound data of another sister, Barkingintherain. Posted by Picasa
