Back in the mulch again

Glow takes the toy to the mulch pile and starts digging again.

The chase is on

Glow grabs the toy and Bliss takes off after her.

Bliss joins Glow in the mulch pile

Bliss comes over to the mulch pile to get Glow to come and play chase. They chase each other, but most often Bullet will get them both to chase him and he takes off dodging and weaving all over the yard.

Glow digs in the mulch pile

Glow loves to dig and lay in the mulch pile. She really helps me out by turning it over for me. She starts digging in one spot and then turns around and digs in another.

Bedtime for the hounds

At 9:30pm all of the hounds go to bed. Stephanie usually drags her baby along. It really is a hoot watching them all go to the bedrooms for bed. Four sleep in the master bedroom and Bliss sleeps in the guest room. We turn them out for potty and then when we let them in and tell them to go to bed, they all race to the bedrooms. Bliss peals off to the right in the hallway and the other four peal of to the left. They all immediately lay down in their beds and wait for us to come and put up the gates. There is no fussing and it runs like a military operation. The only problem is when Bullet gets the corner bed first. Tommy prefers it and stands there looking at him. If we ask Bullet to get up , he grabs another bed and Tommy hops right in to his favorite place. It just reminds him to be quicker next time so he gets there first.

Bullet curls up in one of the crates

Bullet never liked crates when he was in the kennel, but now he enjoys climbing in and curling up to take a nap. We leave the doors off and they all just use them as a nice place to nest and nap. Sometimes Bullet likes to rub his neck along the wire mesh to scratch himself. It is all nice and smooth, so he doesn't hurt himself.

Tommy's after dinner nap

Tommy takes a nap after dinner. As usual they all sleep with their head hanging over the edge of the bed. I guess the cool stone feels better than the soft carpet.

Tommy chomps away on his chicken

Tommy prefers the comfort of a bed on the patio to eat his chicken. He also really hates bugs and flies. He heads for the door when any come around him.

Dining in the mulch pile

Glow loves the mulch pile so much she decides to take her chicken there and enjoy a quiet dinner with a few leaves mixed in.

Bliss finds her own stack of beds

Bliss finds a nice pile of freshly washed beds to make her nest.

Bed washing day

When we wash the beds, we pile the cushions up and wash the covers. Tommy loves finding a nice big cushy stack to bury himself in.

Another big surprise

Bliss surprised us again. Not only did she walk into her new wading pool, but she laid down in it also. She's the one that knows how to keep cool in the 90+ temps we have been having.

Bliss gets her own little pool

After seeing Bliss wade into the water like she did, we bought a small wading pool. At first she didn't know what to do, but then she just stepped in all by herself.

Water Baby

Bliss really surprised me when she decided to wade into some deep water in a little stream at our local park. We had some heavy rain so the pond was full and was backing up into the stream that feeds it. When I walked the dogs near it, Bliss started walking in and got into it up to her belly. She seemed to really like it. None of the other dogs ever have done anything like that.

Kangaroo?

Bullet looks like a Kangaroo as he takes off running.

The Monkey is in trouble now

Glow and Bliss play tug now. Neither one will give up. The monkey is in big trouble, because it ended up losing two legs and its tail.

Glow wants to play

Glow thinks this looks like fun and she wants in on the action.

Morgan plays tug with Bliss

Morgan and Bliss play tug-o-war. Bliss doesn't give up easy and she plants here feet and pulls. The monkey is going to get the short end of this deal.

Bullet Checks for squirrels

Bullet sees something up in the trees and is tracking it. They spend a lot of time searching the trees for squirrels. They all go nuts when they see one and run around under the tree until the squirrel leaves.

Morgan Grooms Stephanie

Stephanie loves being groomed and Morgan loves grooming Stephanie. They are both enjoying themselves on this visit.

Morgan visits us again this year

This is our granddaughter, Morgan , with the dogs. She has really grown in the past year. She loves visiting the hounds and helping to take care of them. They all get well groomed when Morgan is here.

The Portrait

We decided to get a portrait done of the whole gang. I wondered when we got to the studio, "how is the photographer going to get them to pose?" Little did I know that we were the ones to handle that. Kathy handled Bliss and Stephanie and I got Bullet, Glow and Tommy. We rounded them up and without collars that wasn't easy. We got them all in line and then on the photographers mark, we stepped back. In this shot, he smacked some toy on a stick to the ground and lifted it in the air. As you can see Glow and Bullet are ready to jump on it. Tommy is wondering what the heck that was. Bliss and Stephanie look like they are REAL interested in what it is. After about a dozen takes we were done and Kathy and I were worn out. Each picture the dogs would run forward and we would round them up. On a few shots, Tommy would turn and look at me wondering what I was doing when I stepped back.

Grooming Time

Tommy lets me brush him with our new grooming brush. They all are very good and stand still while I do it.

Glow tries to make friends

Glow makes friends after gulping down her chicken. I guess she might need a mint after eating a raw chicken thigh.

The Hounds Make The News

We got a call from a reporter from the Chicago Tribune that is doing a story about raw feeding so they interviewed us and shot pictures of the hounds chowing down on their favorite "Chicken".
